A bit of genealogy!
If you have ever been curious to know who your doctoral [grand-]*fathers are, and you are lucky enough to be in STEM, then you probably consulted the Mathematics Genealogy Project (if not, you should and you might realize you are in the same line as Euler, Lagrange, Fourier, Dirichlet, Lipschitz or Hilbert!) Interestingly, I am not one of those 118 877 grand children Euler had. Instead I am part of what seems to be a relatively small (american) connected component of the graph! Also my tree is not very wide (most students in it, had a single advisor apart from 1. Joe Goodman, and 2. Vannevar Bush).
